What is EXIF Data?

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is a standard that specifies the formats for images, sound, and ancillary tags used by digital cameras and smartphones.

When you take a photo, your device automatically embeds hidden data inside the file. This can include:

  • GPS Coordinates: The exact location where the photo was taken (Latitude, Longitude).
  • Device Information: Camera make, model, lens type, and software version.
  • Settings: Shutter speed, ISO, aperture, flash usage.
  • Timestamps: The precise date and time of capture.

Why Clean Your Metadata?

While useful for photographers, this data can pose a privacy risk when shared online.

Sharing a photo on social media or messaging apps could unintentionally reveal your home address, workplace, or daily routines through embedded GPS data.

Picturify helps you "scrub" this information, ensuring your shared images contain only the visual content and nothing else.
